Bringing Your Abyssinian Kitten Home

At Chris Abyssinian Home, we understand that welcoming a new kitten into your family is an exciting moment. Over the past 13 years, We’ve helped families across the States bring their Abyssinian kittens home safely and comfortably. Whether you’re located nearby or across the country, we offer several delivery options to ensure your kitten arrives happy, healthy, and ready to start their new life with you.

Option 1: Personal Pickup (Recommended)

If you’re able to visit us in person, we highly encourage it! Personal pickup offers several advantages:
When it is convenient for us both, we will set up a meeting with you, but this won’t happen until a deposit is placed on the kitten from the contract form and signed. We might only have a little window of time to meet you before another scheduled event in our family life. so it’s crucial that you be on time for your meeting.

Meeting Your Kitten: There’s nothing quite like meeting your kitten in person before bringing them home. You’ll get to see their personality, hold them, and start bonding right away.

Meeting Me: Personal pickup gives us the opportunity to meet face-to-face. We can show you around, introduce you to the kitten’s parents, and answer any questions you might have in person.

Tour of Our Home: You’ll see firsthand the environment where your kitten was raised and how we care for our cats.

Hands-On Preparation: We’ll walk you through everything you need to know about caring for your new Abyssinian, including feeding, litter training, grooming, and introducing them to your home.

Immediate Support: If you have any concerns during those crucial first hours, you’ll leave with complete confidence knowing exactly what to expect.

We provide you with everything your kitten needs for the journey home, including a secure carrier, familiar bedding, food samples, and detailed care instructions.

Option 2: Ground Transportation

For families within reasonable driving distance but unable to pick up in person, we can arrange ground transportation. This option works well for families within several hundred miles of our location.

How It Works:

We work with professional pet transportation services that specialize in safely transporting animals. Your kitten travels in a climate-controlled vehicle with an experienced driver. The driver maintains regular communication throughout the journey. We can typically arrange door-to-door service, bringing your kitten directly to your home.

Advantages of Ground Transport:

Less stressful for kittens than air travel, especially for young animals. Direct route with minimal handling. More personal service with dedicated attention. Flexible scheduling to accommodate your needs.

Ground transportation costs vary depending on distance and the specific service used. We’ll provide you with a detailed quote and help coordinate all aspects of the delivery to ensure a smooth experience.

Option 3: Air Travel with Flight Nanny

For families located farther from our cattery, we offer air travel with a professional flight nanny service. This is a popular option for families across the United States who want their kitten to travel safely in the cabin of the aircraft rather than as cargo.

How It Works:

We arrange for a professional flight nanny who specializes in pet transport. The flight nanny picks up your kitten from us on the day of travel. Your kitten flies in the cabin as a carry-on pet, remaining with the flight nanny at all times. The flight nanny delivers your kitten directly to you at your local airport or, in some cases, to your home.

Advantages of Flight Nanny Service:

Your kitten never travels in cargo—they remain in the cabin throughout the journey. The flight nanny provides personal attention and care during the entire trip. This is the safest and most comfortable way for kittens to travel long distances. The flight nanny can answer questions and provide guidance when delivering your kitten.

Flight nanny services vary in cost depending on distance, airline, and specific requirements. We work with reputable flight nannies who have extensive experience transporting kittens, and we’ll provide you with complete cost estimates before confirming arrangements.

Option 4: Flying Out to Meet Your Kitten

Some families choose to fly to our location, meet their kitten, and then fly home together. This combines the benefits of meeting in person with the convenience of air travel for families located far from our cattery.

How This Works:

You book your travel to our location at your convenience after filling the contract form and placing a deposit on your choosen kitten for reservation. You’ll spend time at our home meeting your kitten, learning about their care, and asking questions. When you’re ready, we’ll help you prepare for the return journey, including providing an airline-approved carrier and all necessary documentation. You’ll fly home with your kitten as a carry-on pet, keeping them with you at all times.

Advantages:

Complete peace of mind knowing exactly how your kitten traveled. The opportunity to meet us, see our facility, and ask questions in person. Your kitten bonds with you during the journey home. You have control over timing, route, and airline choice.

If you choose this option, we’re happy to provide guidance on airline policies, carrier recommendations, and tips for flying with a kitten to make your journey as smooth as possible.

Preparing for Delivery

Regardless of which delivery method you choose, we take extensive steps to prepare your kitten for the journey:

Health Certificate: Every kitten traveling to a new home receives a health certificate from our veterinarian.

Travel Carrier: We provide or recommend an appropriate airline-approved carrier that’s secure, comfortable, and properly ventilated.

Comfort Items: Your kitten travels with familiar bedding that carries the scent of their mother and littermates, helping them feel more secure during the journey.

Food and Supplies: We send a supply of the food your kitten has been eating, along with detailed feeding instructions to avoid digestive upset during the transition.

Documentation: You’ll receive all medical records, health certificates, registration papers (if applicable), and care instructions.

Timing and Scheduling

Kittens are ready to travel to their new homes at 12-14 weeks of age. This ensures they’ve received appropriate vaccinations, are fully weaned, and are developmentally ready for the transition to a new home.

We work with you to schedule delivery at a time that works for both parties. We recommend avoiding major holidays when possible, as airports and transportation services can be more hectic, and veterinary services may be limited if you need assistance during those critical first days.

Upon Arrival

When your kitten arrives, we recommend:

Having a quiet, secure room prepared where your kitten can adjust gradually to their new environment. Taking your kitten to a veterinarian within 72 hours for a wellness check (required for our health guarantee). Maintaining the same food and litter we’ve been using initially to minimize digestive upset. Giving your kitten time to adjust—it’s normal for them to be a little reserved or stressed for the first day or two.

We provide detailed instructions for introducing your kitten to your home, and we’re always available by phone or email if you have questions or concerns during those first critical days.

Ongoing Support

No matter which delivery option you choose, our support doesn’t end when your kitten arrives at your home. Throughout my 13 years of breeding, I’ve remained available to families across the States for questions, advice, and guidance. We’re invested in the long-term success of every placement, and We want you to feel confident that you can reach out whenever you need assistance.
