When you adopt a kitten from us, you can do so with confidence, knowing that your new family member has been given the best possible start in life.
Comprehensive Health Testing
Before any cat enters our breeding program, they undergo thorough health screening. This includes testing for genetic conditions known to affect Abyssinians, such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) and Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency (PKD). We also screen for common feline health issues, including FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus).
By testing our breeding cats, we dramatically reduce the risk of passing on genetic health problems to future generations. This commitment to health testing is something We’ve maintained throughout our entire breeding career, and it’s non-negotiable at Chris Abyssinian Home.
Veterinary Care for Every Kitten
Every kitten born at Chris Abys Home, receives comprehensive veterinary care before going to their new home. This includes:
A complete physical examination by a licensed veterinarian to ensure the kitten is healthy and developing properly.
Age-appropriate vaccinations to protect against common feline diseases.
Deworming treatments to ensure your kitten is parasite-free.
A health certificate documenting that your kitten has been examined and found to be in good health.
Your kitten will come with complete medical records detailing all veterinary care received while in our care.
Our Health Guarantee Coverage
Chris Abyssinian Home provides a comprehensive 2 years health guarantee that covers serious congenital and hereditary conditions. Here’s what our guarantee includes:
Congenital and Hereditary Defects: We guarantee that your kitten is free from serious congenital or hereditary defects that significantly affect their quality of life. This guarantee is valid for two years from the date of purchase.
What This Means: If, within two years of adoption, your kitten is diagnosed by a licensed veterinarian with a serious congenital or hereditary condition that significantly impacts their health or quality of life, we will work with you to find a resolution. This may include a replacement kitten (when available) or a refund, depending on the circumstances and your preferences.
Requirements: The condition must be documented by a licensed veterinarian with appropriate diagnostic testing. You must provide us with copies of all veterinary records and diagnostic results. The kitten must have received all recommended veterinary care, including vaccinations and regular check-ups.
Short-Term Health Guarantee
In addition to our 2-years genetic health guarantee, we also provide a 72-hour health guarantee covering general health issues. If your kitten shows signs of illness within 72 hours of delivery or pickup, please contact us immediately and take the kitten to a licensed veterinarian for examination.
If a health issue is diagnosed that was present prior to the kitten leaving our care, we will work with you to resolve the situation, which may include covering veterinary expenses or providing a replacement kitten, depending on the severity of the condition.
What’s Not Covered
To maintain transparency, it’s important to clarify what our health guarantee does not cover:
Health issues resulting from accidents, injuries, or improper care after the kitten leaves our facility. Illnesses contracted after the kitten leaves our care, including upper respiratory infections that may develop due to the stress of travel or adjustment to a new environment. Conditions that develop due to lack of proper veterinary care or failure to follow vaccination schedules. Minor cosmetic issues that don’t affect the kitten’s health or quality of life. Conditions that develop as a result of breeding (if you choose to breed your kitten against our recommendations).
Your Responsibilities as an Owner
Our health guarantee is contingent on you providing proper care for your kitten. This includes:
Taking your kitten to a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of receiving them for a wellness check. Following the recommended vaccination schedule and maintaining regular veterinary care. Providing proper nutrition, a safe environment, and appropriate socialization. Contacting us immediately if you notice any health concerns.

Making a Claim
If you need to make a health guarantee claim, please follow these steps:
Contact us immediately to inform us of the health concern. Take your kitten to a licensed veterinarian for examination and diagnosis. Provide us with complete veterinary records, diagnostic test results, and a detailed report from your veterinarian. We will review the documentation and work with you to determine the appropriate resolution.

While our formal health guarantee covers specific conditions within defined timeframes, our commitment to you doesn’t end there. Throughout my 13 years of breeding, I’ve remained available to adopters for advice, guidance, and support well beyond the guarantee period.
